We offer a comprehensive range of treatments for children of all ages at Happy Teeth:

Oral Hygiene

Regular dental hygiene appointments for children help to promote good oral health, prevent cavities and set the foundation for good habits that last a lifetime. Oral hygiene statistics of children in the UK show that, among children aged 0 to 5 years, nine out of ten hospital tooth extractions are due to preventable tooth decay!

The aim of a good oral hygiene routine is to remove plaque which is made of food and bacteria, that grow on the surface of teeth and around the gum line. If left this can lead to future oral health problems such as gum disease and tooth decay.

At Happy Teeth we believe that prevention is better than intervention.

To achieve this, we recommend regular hygiene appointments with regular dental check-ups.

We also provide tooth brushing advice, where one of our friendly dentists will model the best tooth brushing techniques for your child.

Good habits last a lifetime!

White Fillings

White fillings are natural-looking, metal-free and unlike amalgam or silver fillings, they are minimally invasive and can be shaped to fit a tooth exactly. This composite material hardens in seconds, making the procedure hassle-free and convenient.

Using this white composite material, we are able to restore the strength of teeth  while maintaining the natural aesthetics of your child’s tooth.

Additionally, white fillings do not require the removal of healthy tooth tissue – which means less drilling!

Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment uses fixed or removable braces to treat misalignment of the teeth, jaws and sometimes both.

Orthodontic braces are used to correct malocclusions (bad bites), overjets, overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites and crooked teeth.

In collaboration with Octagon Orthodontics, who are the premier provider of braces in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Middlesex, Oxford and West London, Happy Teeth offer a comprehensive range of fixed and removable braces used to align and straighten children’s teeth.

Whether your child is 7 or 17 years old, their journey to the smile they deserve, starts at Happy Teeth with a FREE orthodontic Consultation and Bite Test, where one of our specialists, will assess, investigate and diagnose your child’s specific problems and inform you of various treatment options.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Children’s cosmetic dentistry is based on utilising tooth-coloured material to replace discoloured teeth, fractured crowns and fillings thereby making the teeth visually aesthetic and as natural-looking as possible.

Using Composite putty-like resin, we are able to mould it to fit most discoloured or fractured teeth appropriately. This composite material is also able to restore the strength of a tooth and create a great natural smile.

Children’s crowns are often the next step when a tooth is damaged or when a cavity becomes too deep or extensive for a filling to be effective. It’s also the recommended restoration procedure following a root canal treatment.

We will get your child smiling again!

Preventative Dentistry

To achieve good oral health, we recommend regular hygiene appointments and regular dental check-ups.

Additionally, we recommend a range of treatments designed specifically to protect your child’s teeth against decay, including:

Fissure Sealants:

Dental decay is most likely to develop on your child’s molars when they first erupt at the age of 6. At this young age, the top chewing surface of these teeth is not fully mineralised, and therefore more vulnerable to decay.  By applying a fissure sealant, we make the surface of the tooth smooth, thereby helping to prevent decay.

Evidence shows that fissure sealed teeth are 80% less likely to get caries.

The application of fissure sealants is speedy and painless and a worthwhile investment!

Fluoride Varnish:

This is a simple solution that helps to slow and prevent tooth decay in children. Fluoride varnish leads to heavy remineralisation of the enamel surface, and subsequent acid attacks will allow fluoride ions to penetrate more deeply into the tooth structure. Varnishes are useful because they stay on the tooth surface for some hours, allowing slow release of the fluoride ion.

Restorative Dentistry

From damage caused by dental injuries to the development of dental caries, restorations are a common necessity for children. We utilise the latest techniques to ensure efficient and effective treatment and we focus on restoring oral function and quality of life.

Teeth are incapable of self-healing and therefore, permanent damage to a tooth caused by a chip, crack or cavity can lead to the need for an extraction if professional treatment is delayed.

When your child’d tooth is damaged beyond what a filling can fix, more extensive restorations like dental crowns and endodontic therapy (such as a pulpotomy) may be needed.

Having restorative dental work done in a timely manner means that your child can retain their biological teeth, which is normally ideal for promoting healthy occlusions, oral function and orthodontic progress.

Depending on the extent of a cavity, there are numerous treatment options that our dentist will consider – from removing the decay and simply filling the tooth, to removing all the infected pulp to root canal treatment and placing a children’s crown.

At Happy Teeth we want to restore your child’s dental health so that they can go through life smiling with confidence!

Sedation For Children

Many children feel anxious when visiting the dentist. Often children develop fears of the dentist because of the sounds they hear in a practice. Others have difficulty remaining still for the period required for the treatment.

In collaboration with SEDATION UK, our highly skilled team are here to lessen your child’s fear and anxiety.

At Happy Teeth, we offer different sedation options that have applications for common procedures such as placing fillings, performing endodontic therapy and removing diseased or damaged teeth.

With sedation, fearful children can develop positive experiences of visiting the dentist, so that a debilitating phobia of the dentist does not affect them for life.
