Sedation can help
nervous children
Active children
worried children

Some children feel extremely anxious when receiving any form of dental treatment, and one of the best and safest ways to lessen their fear and avoid a longterm phobia of the dentist, is to treat them using Sedation Dentistry.

In collaboration with SEDATION UK, we provide a comprehensive range of sedation services for children including: Oral Sedation, Inhalation Sedation  and IV Sedation.

So whether your child is fearful of the dentist or simply unable to sit still for the period of the treatment required, our sedation services are here to help.

We believe that a life-long phobia of the dentist can be avoided, and that both your child’s and YOUR stress and anxiety can be reduced and managed.

Types Of Sedation

Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation at Happy Teeth is prescribed for relieving anxiety in children in the hours immediately before a dental appointment. An anti-anxiety pill, prescribed by one of our dental professionals, is usually taken an hour before your child’s appointment to ensure they are as comfortable as possible whilst undergoing treatment.

IV Sedation

IV Sedation is a management technique that uses various medications to help your child cope with their fear & anxiety, and to ensure that they cooperate during  treatment. The medications are administered intravenously, by a healthcare professional trained in this technique. The drugs used for IV Sedation produce either partial or full amnesia for the duration of the treatment.

Inhalation Sedation

Nitrous Oxide is used during Inhalation Sedation. It is used for its anaesthetic and analgesic effects. A mask is placed over your child’s nose and the Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen mixture is regulated very precisely by the RA machine. Your child will be conscious and relaxed throughout the treatment but they will be unable to recall much about their treatment.
